statement
As an up and coming artist, I am inspired by personal and political experiences that take place in my life, past and present. These experiences have completely shaped my life and my art, and these moments are reflected throughout all of my work. I use many different mediums to express my thoughts and opinions, and I base each project’s medium off that experience. For example, I had an idea to capture my experience of growing up in a divorced family and decided to use a mixture of drawing, photography, and videography to full encapsulate my experience of being “In Between.” When a viewer experiences my work, they may see something about themselves depicted and have a deeper connection. In this case, the work becomes self-reflective. For others, they may see a completely new perspective and take something new away from the work. Working through my own experiences, I am inspired by others who also work with personal art and storytelling, shedding light on real experiences and sometimes extremely difficult topics. Some of these artists include: William Kendrige, Sue Coe, Lewis Hine, Annie Flangagan, Melissa Vandenburg, and Jared Ragland.

​I'm a currently at UAB studying New Media with a minor in Peace, Justice & Ecology. Beginning at UAB I received the UAB Friends of Art and Art History Scholarship & The UAB Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship. In Spring and Fall 2018, I received the Jane White Scholarship and was on the Dean's List for both semesters. Currently, I am involved with two student organizations: Medium Art Club (member) and Green Initiative (Vice President).

At JSCC I studied Graphic Design. I graduated as Summa Cum Laude and as JSCC's Eugene G. Fitzgerald Award Recipient. During my time at JSCC, I was able to be apart of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. Through this organization I was able to serve as the President and be a leader in my college. Check out some of this work in my Project folder. Here are some of the honors and awards I received at JSCC: All- Alabama Academic Team Coca-Cola Gold Scholar, All-Alabama Academic Team, JSCC President's List, JSCC Dean's List, JSCC Academic Student Scholarship, Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, and JSCC PTK Competitive Edge Scholar.

My responsibilities for the Dean's Office included: Performed secretary/public relations for Youth Leadership Development Program; Tracked YLDP student progress; managed YLDP ambassadors; planned and set-up for events.

During my time at Michael's I was awarded a Golden Customer Service Star for providing excellent customer service.
